May 16th 2008
Colleagues, Please be advised that your Federation wish to express its extreme disappointment in the false impression given by Police Review in its publication dated the 16th May 2008 surrounding certain aspects of our annual conference held on the 8th May 2008. The misinterpretations of certain parts of Mr Thompson speech to conference were misjudged and totally taken out of context. I can assure members that the ACPO team hold all their colleagues in the CNC in high esteem, and fully support the valuable work you carry out on a daily basis, in a most professional way. On a positive note the article raised the issue of pay parity of our police officers to the wider policing world, however I am sadden by the fact that this message will be lost by the disgraceful reporting of what was a most successful conference in which issues were raised and answered in a most positive way. Both the Chairman Peter Storey and I will be speaking to the editorial team of the Police review on Monday 19th May, about the way this article has been written and edited
