General Secretary's Welcome 2009.

Dear Colleagues,

It gives me enormous pleasure of behalf the Executive Committee, of the Civil Nuclear Police Federation to welcome you to our Annual Conference 2009, held in Liverpool for the first time.
Conference is an opportunity to take the time to focus on the challenges that affect both the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, and our Police Federation and debate what we can contribute to ensure that we are at the centre of the discussions

As we look forward we welcome the completion of a permanent ACPO team who we trust will compliment, our organisation with different backgrounds in Policing, all of which we hope and trust will move the Civil Nuclear Constabulary forward, with pride and direction. Policing in all environments is becoming increasingly challenging and this is reflected in the emergence of "Workforce Modernisation". Our major concern is that this work should be done in partnership with the Police Federation and not as an afterthought.

We also welcome Sir Chris Fox as Chairman of our Police Authority, and wish him much success in his new role, which has seen him rise from Constable to Chief Constable to now Chairman of a Police Authority.
